Last week, we had more people than you could shake a stick at – 20 to be precise – but despite that, I thought we had a decent game. Just the one goal in it, too.
Here are your teams:
Yellows: Simon Ink, Parminder*, Simon Gas, Klaus, Joe, Chris, Will, Anatoily, Gio… and Yev
Blues: Marco, me, Steve, Alan, Andy F, Mick, Paul, Patrick, Oleksandr and Johnnie
Parminder is asterisked as he was originally left off Simon Gas’s team sheet, but following some hokey-cokey style in and out, he was in. As was Yev, who was also omitted from the official team sheets.
Simon Ink and me swapped sides after about a five minutes when Yev arrived, just to mix up the weekly Simon Salad, (what a band they were). With that many people on the pitch space was at a premium, as were clear cut chances, but Johnnie had a great chance to score but was foiled by (consults notes), err, me and around thirty seconds later Gio (who recovered from an earlier clash with Steve’s neck) burst through on the Yellows’ left and slammed past Marco to score the only goal of the game.
Final score: Yellows 1- Blues 0
A pleasant evening at the pub, too – I am struggling to remember what we were discussing, but I do remember the importance of staying fit into middle age came up, as did the fact the Beavertown brewery seems to have been poisoned by Heineken since they took over last Summer.
Too long to read? Here’s the digested version:
Johnnie took a shot and I done a great save and then Gio took the ball up the other end and done a goal and that was the end.
Happy birthday, Ian!
